My Approach
I take a holistic approach to tattooing, considering every detail—how the design sits on the body, how it moves, and how it feels. I think about how it will age, and the person getting it—their thoughts, their feelings, and the energy they bring into the room. It’s not just about the outcome, the art or the aesthetics. It's about the experience, the process and the art itself; it all becomes part of your story. I want it to feel like something that was always supposed to be there, like you're supposed to be here.
The Process
1. Send an enquiry
Download my enquiry form and fill it out, then email it to me along with any photos or references that help explain your idea—I'm a visual person, so include lots of pretty pictures!
2. Review & respond
I’ll read through your enquiry and respond with any questions I might have. I'll also give you a quote $$$ and an estimate on how long your booking might take—please be aware that larger projects may span months or even years due to healing times!
3. Deposit
If we're a good fit, I'll ask for a non-refundable 30% deposit before I begin working on your design. This comes off the final amount on the day of your tattoo and covers the time and care that goes into designing something especially for you—please note I do not begin working on any designs unless a deposit is paid.
4. Refinement
If needed, we’ll chat about your design to make sure it’s super clear, considered, and perfectly suited to you. Final designs are usually viewed on the day together, so we can make any adjustments in person and ensure everything feels right before we begin. I don't typically send out designs before this time to keep the process more personal and protect the integrity of my work.
5. Lock in a date!
Once everything is feeling good, we'll find a day and time that suits us both, then you can start counting down the days! Be sure to put it in your calendar and make sure you have enough time set aside on the day to eliminate any unnecessary stress.
6. Behind the scenes
This is the part where I get busy! In the lead-up to your appointment, I fall knee-deep into the design process—colour palettes, swatches, stencil outlines and tonal values evaluations. This keeps everything fresh in my mind and helps me familiarise myself with the design before committing it to skin.
7. Tattoo time!
Finally! The day you never thought would come is here! On the day of your booking, we’ll go through your design together, make any final tweaks, and take our time to make sure everything feels right before we begin. We'll take breaks when needed and make sure it's as good as it can be!
What sets my practice apart?
My approach is grounded in empathy, autonomy, and respect. I don’t just focus on the outcome—I focus on the experience. I prioritise client comfort and respect your autonomy, ensuring you feel safe throughout the entire process. That means:
-
You’re treated as a whole person, not just a canvas.
-
Your boundaries are respected at all times.
-
You will be involved in the process without any pressure or overwhelm.
-
Any design requirements will be communicated clearly, calmly and respectfully.
-
You will be walked through the entire process and informed every step of the way.
-
Your comfort level in the environment is considered, and I aim to be intentionally supportive.
This is a space for people who don’t always feel comfortable in traditional tattoo settings, where you can show up as you are and feel safe doing so.
Accessibility & Inclusive Practice
Creating a safe, accessible, and supportive space is a core part of how I work. I understand that everyone experiences the world differently, and I aim to make the tattoo process feel as comfortable, respectful, and accommodating as possible.
My approach is informed not only by hands-on experience but also by my broader background in design, communication, and ongoing postgraduate studies in psychology. This means I’m deeply mindful of how people think, feel, and respond to different environments—and I bring that awareness into every interaction.
What I consider in my practice
I take a flexible, human-centred approach and do my best to accommodate a range of needs, including:
Neurodivergent clients
As someone who is neurodivergent myself (AuDHD & cPTSD), I understand how overwhelming and unpredictable emotionally heightened environments can feel, and I bring that awareness into my practice.
-
I use informed sensory pacing techniques, letting you know when sensations may become more intense and providing countdowns so you know exactly when they’ll stop.
-
Sensory breaks and emotional responses are always respected—you’re encouraged to pause, slow down, or change things at any time. There’s no expectation to “push through”—the process is shaped around you.
-
I aim to reduce sensory input wherever possible, including adjusting lighting, music, conversation levels, and the overall environment to better suit your needs.
LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Practice
This is a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ clients—you are welcome here exactly as you are!
-
Your identity, pronouns, and boundaries will always be respected without question or assumption.
-
I aim to create an environment where you don’t have to explain or defend who you are—you can just exist and feel comfortable being you!
-
I approach every client with care, empathy, and awareness, recognising that not all spaces feel safe for everyone, but I actively work to ensure this one does!
-
You’ll always be met with respect! You’ll never be pressured to disclose anything you’re not comfortable sharing, but anything you share will be respected and held appropriately.
Gender Inclusivity
I might use a lot of pink in my branding, but that doesn’t mean I only tattoo women. Pink is for everyone—and so is this space. People of all genders are welcome here: man, woman, non-binary, goblin, ghoul, or unicorn 🦄
-
Gender doesn't matter here—whether you identify as a man, woman, non-binary, or anywhere else on the spectrum, you’ll be treated with respect, care, and consideration.
-
I aim to create an environment where no one feels out of place or unwelcome—regardless of how you identify or present.
-
There are no expectations around how you “should” show up. You don’t need to fit a certain mould to belong here, just be yourself!
-
Everyone deserves to feel comfortable, respected, and able to express themselves freely—and that’s something I actively prioritise.
People of Colour & Melanated Skin
This is a safe, respectful space for people of colour—you are welcome here exactly as you are! There is beauty in difference, and I strive to celebrate this in all aspects of my business.
-
I recognise that melanated skin behaves differently when tattooed (specifically with coloured inks), and I approach each piece with that in mind—I consider contrast, tone, and design choices so your tattoo works with your skin, not against it!
-
I offer FREE rainbow colour swatches with every tattoo to POC—this allows you to see how each colour behaves and responds to your skin tone!
-
I’ll always be honest about what will translate well and what may need to be adapted to achieve the best outcome for your skin tone.
-
I’m committed to ongoing learning and refinement to better support a wide range of skin tones in my practice. If you have preferences, references, or past experiences, you’re always welcome to share them—I'd love to learn more about different skin tones and how best to cultivate a thoughtful and considered creative practice for these individuals.
-
I approach tattooing with cultural sensitivity and respect. Certain cultural designs or sacred markings may not be appropriate for me to tattoo, and I may decline requests where I feel it is appropriate or outside of my cultural understanding.
Age Inclusivity
-
Whether you're 18 or 98 years old, you’re welcome here—this is a space for adults of all ages!
-
There’s no “right time” to get a tattoo. People get tattooed for different reasons, at different stages of life, and all of that is valid! Your story is your own, and you don't need to justify it to others.
-
I understand that your needs, comfort levels, and experiences may vary depending on where you’re at in life, and I’ll always meet you with care and respect!
-
I take a thoughtful approach to tattooing, considering different factors like age-related skin changes, differences in healing, and the effects of various medications.
-
Older clients generally have thinner skin, and a little more care is required to prevent too much trauma or damage to the epidermis and dermis. Older clients are more likely to have swelling or bruising as a result of the tattooing process.
Anxiety or trauma-informed care
I understand that emotional responses are a normal and healthy part of the human experience. There is no judgment or expectations around how you respond during your appointment. I use trauma-informed care to guide you through complex emotions and reach a place of emotional regulation and safety.
-
I use a trauma-informed approach, meaning your sense of safety, control, and autonomy is always prioritised.
-
Your consent is ongoing—you can pause, take a break, change your mind, or stop completely at any point.
-
I implement grounding and regulation tools such as breathwork and somatic practices to help anchor you to the present moment.
-
I use gradual exposure and desensitisation methods to build tolerance gradually rather than overwhelming your system.
Physical Comfort & Mobility
Getting a tattoo can be an uncomfortable process. Your physical comfort and mobility are always considered and respected. Your body communicates your needs, and any pain, inflammation, or physiological responses will always be taken seriously and responded to with care. We’ll adjust, pause, or stop whenever needed to support your physical safety and comfort.
-
I work with your body, not against it, and will adjust your body position where possible to support your comfort level.
-
Breaks are always available, especially during longer sessions or physically demanding placements—I’ll consider things like pain levels, fatigue, mobility, flexibility, and any positioning limitations you may have
-
Your body is your home, and trusting me to decorate it is something I don't take lightly. I consider it a privilege, and treat every body with a deeply held sense of respect and care.
-
Physically different clients are always welcome and supported to the best of my ability!
First-Time Clients or Clients Who Feel Unsure
Getting your first tattoo can be both scary and exciting. It’s a rite of passage—a quiet ceremony of becoming who you are while marking who you’ve been. It's a way of marking time, celebrating growth, and capturing a moment in your life, and I treat that moment with care, guiding you through it in a way that feels safe, supported, and entirely your own.
-
There are no silly questions—if you’re unsure about something, you’re always welcome to ask!
-
I’ll explain each stage clearly, from design placement and stencil checks through to tattooing and aftercare.
-
I’ll explain what different sensations might feel like, so nothing comes as a surprise!
-
You'll remember this moment for the rest of your life—so I strive to make it a positive experience!
